Has nothing to do with Sturgis, but kinda along the same lines...
Monday night is "bike night" at my neighborhood pub. This past Monday is the first time I've been free to go. There were probably 30-40 bikes there, mostly HD's.
I parked my humble lil' Savage off to the side, out of the main bike area. Milling around in the parking lot later, I saw a guy who came in on the oldest, funkiest-looking Harley there ('58 Panhead, paint gone to sh*t, looked like something out of "Mad Max"-- and had the prettiest-sounding motor of 'em all, period) walking with his girlfriend to check out my bike.
We started talking about Jap bikes, and how crazy the current HD market is. He talked about several MIJ bikes he's had as "second" bikes, and we agreed that it doesn't matter WHAT you ride-- as long as you RIDE. Nice fella.
Next time I'll park in the main bike area.
(Oh, and BTW, I STILL want a Sporty, and I'll put a deposit down as soon as the local dealership is taking orders again-- but I'll be keeping my Savage as well...)
Keep the rubber down,
John
